That’s number wang!
So, I thought a nice semi-lockdown project would be to revisit the old website, lying unloved in a corner of the World Wide Web, and in January 2022 I set up a new webspace and started copying over some content, thinking it might take a couple of days.
Over a week in, I’m realising it’s a slightly bigger task than I first thought! My plan is to work back through the reviews once they’re all safely snuggled into their new environment, but I am taking the opportunity to give them a brief spring clean (as explained in previous posts).
Last night I reached the heady heights of creaky old Boris Karloff comedy shocker The Ghoul, and thought I’d count up how far I’d got.
Well, turns out The Ghoul is the 96th review I’ve brought over. Which sounded impressive until I decided to count on and have just discovered that there are a grand total of 230 reviews on the old site.
Yup, you read that right. 230. That’s 230 lots of roughly 90 minute viewings. Which equates to 345 hours. Or around 50 working days of absolute nonsense. And that’s not including the time taken to write the reviews themselves, source some photos (not as easy back then as it is now) and then hand code them into the old site. That was my 30s, folks.
I hope it’s all worth it…
