Up and running

So that’s it… we’re now “all systems go”. The URL has transferred over (still not quite sure how I managed that) and the site is running okay. Had a few early looks by interested parties already.

I’ve wanted to do this for a while. The site was set up in haste, and I’ve had over a decade to repent at leisure about it. I was always disappointed by some of the clumsier jokes and poorly thought-out thinking, and at the end of the day, I was 29 when I started it and I’m now 51. Things change, cultures change, people change.

I didn’t want to get rid of it totally - it represents a heck of a lot of work. Which is why I’ve carried on spending hundreds of pounds keeping it running during these past few fallow years. But I was never proud of it. There was too much nonsense, too much gratuitous swearing, too much potential (unintended) offence. So usually when I talked about “having a website”, I’d allude to it but never give people the URL.

After a month or so of spring cleaning, I’m in a better place about it. It’s still not perfect, but it’s getting there. I hope you’ll agree.

The work will continue, I’ll use this blog to keep everyone up to date on what’s happened and why. I’ll also be adding new reviews as I go. I still love these old clunkers, and I want to continue sharing my opinions.

Last night, prompted by my re-reading of what was a truly terrible review, I re-watched Hammer’s The Witches, notepad at the ready. And you know what? It’s quite a good film! The reappraisals start here…
