New review: Vampira

So here it is, the racist old uncle of British horror films, in all its misguided “glory”. Never were there so many “jokes” about the colour of people’s skin outside of a Jim Davidson concert.

You get the distinct impression here that the people making it didn’t have any agenda beyond making a horror comedy with a nod to Blacksploitation, but it is so gammon-fisted (© me, just now) that it misses on very level.

So sit back and marvel at race relations, 1974-style, in the company of David Niven and assorted horror and comedy character actors. And if you’ve not yet seen it, prepare to wonder at just what I’m alluding to when I mention the astonishingly terrible, but pretty much spoiler-free, final scenes.
