New review: The Crimes Of Stephen Hawke

Fancy a bit of ‘new old melodrama’ courtesy of Tod Slaughter? Of course you do. Fancy a bit of enforced topical (for 1936) musical jollity courtesy of double act Flotsam And Jetsam? Of course you don’t.

Unfortunately, one begats the other. But the good news is that the NOM (as I’ve just decided to call it) is fantastic stuff.

So settled in and enjoy the tale of the Spine Breaker, which starts with a bit of infanticide and barrels unapologetically along from there (clearly in 1936 they did not give a shit).
