New review: Voices
Has there ever been a more 1970s combination than appalling parenting, white roll-neck fisherman’s jumpers, fog, a red sports car and Blue Nun wine? Because that’s what you get with Voices.
If you know, you know… and yes, this one has been done a few times over the years (and often much better).
But if you’re in the market for a slow-burning two-hander which focuses on the disintegration of two marriages (one on-screen, the other in real life), with an interesting experiment in formatting which I don’t think I’ve seen done before or since in a cinema release, Voices might be for you.
On the other hand, it may just be an overblown spooky ghost story that’s trying a bit too hard to be Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?. Either way, I’ve piqued your interest, haven’t I?
